The Center for Global Asia is proud to announce that The Routledge Companion to Asian Cinemas (2024), edited by Zhen Zhang, Sangjoon Lee, Debashree Mukherjee, and Intan Paramaditha, has been awarded the inaugural Aruna Vasudev NETPAC Award for Best Book on Asian Cinema. This prestigious honor, presented by the Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema (NETPAC), recognizes outstanding scholarship that advances the understanding of Asian cinema.

The Routledge Companion to Asian Cinemas is a comprehensive volume that explores the historical, cultural, and aesthetic dimensions of Asian cinema across different regions and periods. Featuring contributions from leading scholars, the book provides fresh perspectives on the dynamic and diverse cinematic traditions of Asia.

Professor Zhen Zhang’s editorial leadership has been instrumental in shaping this landmark publication, furthering global engagement with Asian film studies. The award was presented at a special ceremony, acknowledging the book’s significant contribution to the field.
