NYU Shanghai now enjoys annual institutional membership of the Royal Asiatic Society (RAS) China.
The Royal Asiatic Society China is a scholarly society with historic antecedents in Shanghai since 1857. It is devoted to furthering the understanding and appreciation of China and Asia-centric themes amongst the international and local community residing here. Through its diverse monthly lecture series, art, history and architecture & urbanism focus groups, film club, fiction and non-fiction book clubs it aims to inspire and enrich cultural life in Shanghai. The RAS library is a tranquil place for study and research and offers a stunning collection of over 4000 books (in English) as well as rare archival material, housed at the historic House of Roosevelt on the Bund. It also publishes an annual journal comprising of original essays and articles on China and Asia as well as book reviews.
Institutional membership of RAS China now allows any 5 of our faculty members to attend its events and use the RAS library at any given time. The library is usually open on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday afternoons from 2-6pm.

The first 5 sign-ups will receive an email confirmation and enjoy a discounted ticket price for NYUSH community members, and for those who come later than the first 5 sign-ups you need to pay 150 RMB as for public non-members, and both prices include one drink.
