The workshop on “Port City Infrastructures in Global Asia ” aims to explore the multifaceted significance of port cities and their infrastructures throughout different time periods. Port cities have played an important role in trade, cultural exchange, and urbanization in Global Asia. This interdisciplinary workshop will bring together scholars to interrogate what are port city infrastructures, expanding our vision beyond conceptualization of transport and logistics. It will explore the relations between different kinds of port city infrastructures, social dynamics, and historical transformations. Focusing on different types of infrastructures and spatial relations, it aims to enhance our understanding of the relationships between port cities, labor, and cultural heritage in creating connections across Global Asia.
